TV Binge Chronicles: Goodbye Parenthood, Hello The Duchess

After six whole seasons of Parenthood, my emotions have been through the wringer. If there were an Olympic event for crying over fictional families, I’d have won gold by now. But as much as I love the Bravermans and their never-ending life lessons, it’s time for something new. Enter The Duchess, a show I somehow missed when it first came out.

First Impressions: Can Katherine Ryan Win Me Over?

Now, let’s talk about the lead, Katherine Ryan. I actually saw her live in Manchester, post-lockdown. It was surreal being out in a crowded venue again, and I’ll be honest – I didn’t find her as funny as I’d hoped. Was it the anxiety of being around people again? Was it just not my vibe? Hard to say. But I’m going into The Duchess with an open mind.

What I Know So Far

A single mum, a complicated co-parenting relationship, and a whole lot of attitude? Sounds like my kind of chaotic energy. From what I’ve read, The Duchess is sharp, stylish, and unapologetically bold, which I love in theory. Will I love it in reality? We’ll see.

How This Works

Since this is a new section on the blog, here’s the plan: after each episode, I’ll update this space with thoughts, highlights, and potentially some rage-fueled rants. If you’ve watched it already, no spoilers – but let me know if I’m in for a treat (or a disaster).

Alright, let’s hit play. Updates coming soon!

Happy Friday!
