Print and cut out the cards, shuffle them, and lay them face down. Players take turns flipping two at a time. Matching pairs are kept and the player goes again, non-matches are turned back over. Whoever has the most pairs at the end wins.
From around three upwards, adjusting the number of pairs rather than the rules. Six pairs is plenty for a toddler, and older children can handle the full set. Younger children often beat adults at this, which is part of the appeal.
They genuinely practise concentration, visual memory and turn-taking, which is a decent return for a game that needs a printer and a pair of scissors. The turn-taking is usually the harder skill of the two.
